The name Pimonte derives from the latin expression 'presso i monti' (near the mountains), in fact the hilly territory is bounded by the Lattari Mountains to the south/east and by Monte Pendolo to the north/east overlooking the gulf of Naples.

The city is situated along the road that leads from the stabia countryside (Castellammare di Stabia, Gragnano, Pompeii, Torre Annunziata) to the Amalfi coast (Amalfi, Positano). Amalfi Cathedral is worth a visit!

Pimonte offers the possibility to visit the Lavatoio Valley that every year is the location of the wonderful "Presepe Vivente", an event celebrating the crib craftsmanship, the ancient trades and the art deriving from manufacturing.

The ancient mule tracks lead to areas of evocative landscape charm and great historical interest, such as the crest of Monte Pendolo (Belvedere), a popular destination for hikers and trekking enthusiasts from all over the world. There is also the famous "path of the gods" for all lovers of hiking, the path of lemons and the path of le nocelle.

Pimonte is also known as the "city of water" because of its abundance of water, from which many streams flow down into the valley.

Around the territory of Pimonte there is the opportunity 'to visit major elements of attraction such as the excavations of the picturesque Pompeii, known throughout the world for the tragedy that involved it in 79 ad when the city' was buried by the terrible eruption of Vesuvius.

For all the inhabitants of the Sorrentine Peninsula, the mountain has only one name: Faito. It is the 1400 meter high mountain, the highest point of the Lattari chain and marks the beginning of the Sorrentine Peninsula. It is a popular destination, especially in summer, when it provides a cool refuge from the hot and sometimes sultry days of the Sorrento summer.

Pimonte has a rich and historical production of exclusive typical products such as cherries, provola and chestnuts.
